What is Learning Support?

The Learning Support Program helps teachers provide differentiation for their student's learning needs within the classroom.  This is done through consultation and in-services, creation of accommodation checklists, development of Behavior Support Plans and assistance with writing Individual Program Plans (IPPs).
All PWE students are involved in literacy support through our Collaborative Response Model (CRM).  For one block each day, students work in various sized groups on teacher selected targeted goals.  These goals are based on each student's particular literacy needs and may include letter/sound relationships, decoding strategies, reading fluency, comprehension, sentence writing and targets specific to our ELL students.  Teams of administrators, classroom teachers and Learning Support teachers and assistants meet every six weeks to evaluate the progress of the students, re-establish the goals and form new groups for the next round of CRM.
