Music and Band

Hello,

My name is Stephanie Watson, this will be my second-year teaching music at Prairie Waters. I have been teaching music (K-6) and band (6-9) with RVS for 17 years as of the coming February. I grew up in Chestermere and my family has remained in Chestermere since the 1950s when it was summer village. I completed my Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees at the University of Lethbridge.

In my teaching practise, I focus on singing, playing instruments, movement, music listening, and creating. I strongly believe in the importance of music education for children. Below, I've attached some links that demonstrate some of the benefits of music education on children's health, brain development and academic achievement:

I believe music should be accessible and enjoyable for all students. I am looking forward to working with the students of PWE and passing on my love of music. Please feel free to contact me at the school, 403-285-6969 or you can e-mail anytime at swatson@rockyview.ab.ca if you have any questions about the music program.

I look forward to another great year at PWE!
